AWE is now closed

Since 2009 our team had been at the forefront of webAR research and development. First as buildAR, which then evolved into AWE. We were the first to introduce the world to commercial applications of location and image based webAR that could be accessed across devices, in the web browser, and built by anyone. We then expanded to include VR, Face Tracking and Spatial/World Tracking. Our community have repeatedly told us that AWE was the most advanced, complete and consistently their favourite webAR creation platform.

We have been inspired by the many thousands of webAR experiences that you all have created on the AWE platform since 2016. Projects created by everyone ranging from students, through to mega global brands, corporates and governments.

However, after careful consideration we decided that AWE would exercise the options outlined in our Terms of Use and we shut down the awe.media platform on June 10, 2024.

This decision was not made lightly, and we regret the impact this may have on your projects and workflow.

We sincerely appreciate the enthusiasm and love you have all shown towards the AWE platform.

It has been a privilege watching you create!

As a contribution to this community, we will be open sourcing parts of the AWE tracking libraries. We hope this community will extend and enhance webAR using this code. We do not have a date scheduled for this yet, but subscribe to AWE on GitHub for notifications.

As our platform will no longer be running, we are also selling our domains. Please get in touch to find out more if you are interested in purchasing any of these domains:

Thank you for being a valued part of the AWE community.
